Hi, My name is Kelcey.

I’m an Atlanta-based journalist and legal news reporter, specializing in trials and high-profile hearings. The work I’m most proud of brings to the fore the humanity of court proceedings, breaking through jargon and legalese to reveal the lasting impact a ruling or decision has on those involved and the world around them.

I began my journalism career as an intern at BNO News in 2014. Since then, I’ve covered the COVID-19 pandemic, education, government, politics and breaking news for outlets like the Los Angeles Times, Independent Journal Review, Beverly Hills Weekly, Chattanooga Times Free Press and others. I’ve led campaigns fighting for student press freedom and against gender-based censorship in collegiate newsrooms, created podcasts, produced television shows and managed newsletters for outlets across the country.

At Law360, I cover Georgia’s state, federal and appellate courts. Most recently, I covered the indictment of a former president, the trial of a former ‘BigLaw’ attorney who pleaded guilty to felony involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of his wife, the legal battle over Georgia’s six-week abortion law, a month-long trial over the constitutionality of Georgia’s electronic voting machines and the RICO trial of rapper Young Thug and the alleged YSL street gang.

I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2016 with a degree in journalism. When I’m not on deadline, you can find me hanging out with my dogs on the beltline.
